5 REASONS AND 2 EXCUSES TO TRY 5 LOAVES 2 FISH

“JESUS TOOK THE FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISH, LOOKED UP TOWARDS THE HEAVEN, AND BLESSED THEM…” - MARK 6:41

DEAR DREAMERS
Last June 8, 2017, 5 Loaves and 2 Fish held a bloggers’ launch to introduce their food and concept. Today, I will be sharing with you 5 reasons and 2 excuses to head over to 5 Loaves and 2 Fish as well as Isaac’s review of the food.

5 REASONS
Homey
One of the things people usually look at restaurants is the ambiance. Is it nice? Is it comforting? For 5 Loaves 2 Fish, it has a homey feel, just the way the owner intended. It won’t feel like you are sitting in a restaurant but you’ll feel like you’re sitting at your house just chilling and eating. If you’re a devout Christian then the verses on the walls and Christian music will make you feel right at home (or at Church).

Quality ingredients
As Isaac says, you can never go wrong with food made with high quality ingredients (unless you really don’t have a knack for cooking). In other words, you can rest assured that the food is good because the food is made with good ingredients.

Price
The prices are pretty reasonable considering the quality of their ingredients, ranging from P140 to around P350. Comfort food that is pocket-friendly? ‘Nuff said.

Lavosh
With tons of delicious comfort food to choose from, the lavosh is still the one to try. I have tried lavosh in church but I have never tried lavosh this way, with the dip and savory sesame flavor. Fun fact, 5 Loaves 2 Fish won third place with a score of 3.99 in the Ultimate Taste Test on 2011. Excited to try them yet?

Homemade
For those who love their food made with love then this one’s for you. The owner emphasized how everything is “house blend” and “homemade” and you can tell that it’s really made with love. If you need some lovin’ then you know where to go.

2 EXCUSES
Because… food
Um yeah, because you need an excuse to skip that diet. I mean, they did say the lavosh was healthy so this does not count as cheat day right? Maybe, grab some cake to go too… hehe.

You need a break from life, from everything.
Comfort food… soul food… as classy as these phrases sound. What you really need is a break from everything and 5 Loaves 2 Fish can give you just that. Good food among good company is enough to fuel you once more into life’s trudging routine.
Now that you have 5 reasons and 2 excuses, it’s time to check out their food.

MENU

PESTO WITH SUNDRIED TOMATOES P245

HONEY CHICKEN P265

HOUSE BLEND ICED TEA P75

LAVOSH P195
It was still crunchy despite being left in the box for hours. Out of the four dips, the pesto brulee and the tomato coriander salsa were my favorite. The other two dips were liver paste and dulong in garlic oil. The pesto brulee came in a pasty texture and was slightly sweet, it was topped with torched mozzarella. I liked the tomato coriander salsa because it tasted sweet and you can tell that it’s really fresh.

VONGOLE P248
According to the owner, the vongole is a challenging pasta to make because it needs fresh clams. It is sauteed in olive oil and garlic. It also has some white wine and is served with foccacia bread and a wedge of lemon. Light and flavorful, this pasta tasted very good.

SPAGHETTI WITH CHICKEN PARMESAN P240
Parmesan crusted chicken fillet, topped with gooey mozzarella and house blend rich tomato sauce, this one is another dish that tasted good.

HIGH FIVE SALAD P285
Sweet and sour flavors come together in this salad thanks to the balsamic vinegar and guava puree. It also had sundried tomatoes, candied nut, diced guava and grated parmesan cheese. It was okay but Isaac wished that they had tossed the salad in the dressing rather than serving the dressing separately.

BBQ SPARERIBS P255
Their BBQ spareribs is slow cooked spareribs marinated and glazed with their house blend BBQ sauce. The barbeque sauce is okay but it is the pork spareribs that stands out, thanks its tenderness.

LENGUA
Made from slow cooked ox tongue, Isaac found the lengua delicious.

BEEF SALPICAO P345
According to Isaac, their beef salpicao is super good and it is the star of the show. The sauce is not the usual salpicao sauce but the beef tenderloin is served medium rare which makes it really good. You’ll know it tastes really good when Isaac says it’s “super good” because of his culinarian palate.

SALMON WITH FOUR CHEESE P350
Delicious and scrumptious, their sauce is good but Isaac prefers their salmon to be medium rare because it is more delicious that way. The salmon is served with 4 types of cheese and mashed potato.

LOCATION
5 Loaves 2 Fish is located at ground floor of The Rock Lifestyle Hub, Holy Spirit Drive, Don Antonio Heights, Quezon City.

P.S.

The opinions in this blog post regarding the food are Isaac’s since he was the one who attended the event in my stead. That explains the quality of the pictures, am I right? Kidding (haha), he only had his phone’s camera with him so I get that it was hard to take photos in the dark. However, I was able to try the lavosh and I really loved it. We’ll be heading back to the resto soon so I can finally try the other food and retake the pictures.
