AUTHENTIC MALAYSIAN CUISINE AT PAPPARAM MALAYSIAN KITCHEN
Tucked in the quiet streets of Marikina is a hidden gem of gastronomic delight that will take you straight to Malaysia. It may not look like it from the outside but PappaRam Malaysian Kitchen offers authentic Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine, and at affordable prices too!
Named after the owner, PappaRam is headed by Chef Ram, a Malaysian chef who incorporates years of culinary experience into his cooking.
MENU
There were a lot of items in the menu, it was kind of confusing to choose from but I just went ahead and looked for laksa.
An open kitchen by the bar table will give you front row access to the skilled cooking of Chef Ram.
It may look small on the outside, but the restaurant can accommodate a huge crowd thanks to its outdoor seating area.
Isaac and I dined at PappaRam, along with my uncle who introduced us to PappaRam and Mokja Korean Restaurant.
ROTI KOSONG (PLAIN) P85
Delicious and chewy, their Roti is a must-try. Roti is a Malaysian flat bread and PappaRam serves it in savoury and sweet flavors.
CURRY LAKSA P165
Whenever I go to a Singaporean restaurant, I cannot help but try the laksa. Laksa is noodles in curry coconut broth. Their laksa tastes good but I wanted it to be a little more sour since that is how I like my laksa. It has egg, eggplant, tofu and shrimp in it.
NASI LEMAK (BEEF RENDANG) P185
Isaac had the Nasi Lemak which is considered the Malaysian national dish. The rice was flavorful, tasting of coconut milk and pandan, best of all, the rice was unlimited. The dish consisted of beef cooked for four hours, cucumbers, egg, peanuts and fish.
TEH AIS P85
A sweet way to end the meal was the Teh Ais or iced milk tea.
NASI GORENG GILA P175
Nasi Goreng Gila is Crazy Fried Rice PappaRam Style. The fried rice was delicious, it had fish balls and vegetables incorporated in it. On the sides were sunny side up egg, cucumbers, crackers and more vegetables.
OVERALL
Overall, the food was good. The ambiance was homey and will surely let you enjoy your food even more, it’s pretty chill. If you want to know what Malaysian cuisine tastes like, then head over to PappaRam Malaysian Kitchen.
